This week's lead comes from Judy McPhail, in the form of an Advent reflection, invitation, and blessing.

I'd like you all to join me in a walk with Jesus this Advent Season.  Bring your extra shoes/boots as we walk so others may be more comfortable as they make their way to work or school.

"Soles 4 Souls creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world."  That is their mission statement and their vision is to disrupt the cycle of poverty.  I feel certain Jesus is on board with this ministry as Soles 4 Souls provides short-term relief and long-term solutions.

Founded as a disaster relief organization after philanthropists and shoe executives provided footwear to the most impacted by the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Soles 4 Souls was officially formed in 2006 and has distributed over 30million pairs of shoes in 127 countries and in all 50 states.  It is a non-profit, registered 501 (c) (3) recognized by the IRS based in Nashville, TN.  You can find all this information and more by googling Soles 4 Souls.

Providing shoes to every age group is such a little thing for us and huge to the recipients.  Please gather pairs of used children's or adult's shoes/boots that you or family members no longer want.  Join me with your shoe donation each Sunday of Advent as we prepare for His arrival. Look for the red basket just inside the doors on your way into worship.

Doing "missions" makes me happy.  As I served chicken at the Friendly Kitchen I found satisfaction when making eye contact.  Not only did I give a gift of friendship but received the gift back as a person in need said a genuine Thank You as they went back out into the wintery night. Whether it be Art Camp, GOT LUNCH, or the Friendly Kitchen I always feel a calmness, a gift of Christianity both given and received back.
Recently there has been something more and I can't put a name to it.  I am giving God's love and receiving it back tenfold and then there is something much greater and I can't express it.  BUT it is there deep in my soul and I am settled and happy.

May you feel these same Blessings,

Judy
